6-music-bloggers-follow-heaps-good-bangers

I enjoy making mixes for people. I like knowing about the next big thing before other people. I love discovering new music. I’m always listening to something new. I think it’s this passion for music discovery and desire to be ahead that often causes people to ask, “Where the hell do you find all of this music?” I plan to do an entire in-depth article on the answer to that question, but until then here is a little slice of that scrumptious music pie.

1. The Blues Project

Hometown: London, UK

Genre: Soul/R&B

Why you should follow: If you’re looking to stay on top of new music and new artists in the Soul/R&B genres then look no further! On the website, you can find emerging R&B/Soul artists, reviews of live music shows such as Afropunk, and Spotify playlists like Artists to Watch and Monthly Roundups.

2. Ones To Watch

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

Genre: All

Why you should follow: If you’re looking to cut through the noise and stay on top of new artists, this is definitely for you. I go through the ‘Artists’ section on this site about once a month to help me stay current. You can even filter by genre! And their #NowWatching Spotify playlist (below) is always on point. You can follow now and thank me later.

3. PressPlay OK

Hometown: London, UK

Genre: All

Why you should follow: Check out this site for new music, album reviews, podcasts, and interviews. I like to follow his Spotify and especially his Soundcloud to stay fresh on the latest new artists, across multiple genres.

4. Sistas With Soul

Hometown: Sydney, Australia

Genre: Jazz/Soul/Hip Hop/Funk

Why you should follow: If you follow my blog, you can probably tell that I have a bit of an obsession with Australian music. I lived in Melbourne for awhile and became a really big fan of the music scene there, especially the Electronic and R&B vibes. Sistas With Soul support all of that goodness. You can expect guest mixes, podcasts, playlists, and knowledge to be dropped on ya. Get ready.

5. S.I.R. Collective

Hometown: London, UK

Genre: Soul/R&B

Why you should follow: OK so technically the S.I.R. Collective (which stands for Still I Rise) isn’t a music blog but I had to include them because they are doing big tings, are connected with Australia and the UK, and their Spotify playlist collection is LIKE WHOA. If you’re interested in Soul music I would recommend following on Instagram and Spotify. And if you’re in need of some smooth-ass R&B to soundtrack your life, you def need S.I.R. Collective in your life.

6. SISTER

Hometown: London, UK

Genre: Bass/Hip Hop/Grime

Why you should follow: This one is for my ravers out there. “Their bass music movement guides the curious mainstream EDM fan into a darker sound.” Now doesn’t that sound like time well spent? You can expect radio shows, interviews, exclusive music, and mixes from this universal collective. I love how they broadcast live from their sets. #Raw
